Add new text using widgets
Text is added to your website using widgets. These can be dragged into place on any page.
To add a new text block:
-
Go to https://editor.smarthotel.nl and log in
-
In the left-hand menu, click Pages and open the page you want to edit
-
Click the + icon (Widgets) in the left toolbar
-
Scroll to the Text section
-
Drag a Title or Paragraph widget onto your page
-
Click the text to begin editing
Changes are saved automatically. Don’t forget to Republish your changes when you're done.
Use sections to structure your content
A section is a larger layout block that contains one or more widgets. You can use sections to create a clean and consistent layout.
To add a new section:
-
Hover your mouse between two existing sections
-
Click the blue + Add Section button
-
Click on designed and choose a layout (e.g., text with image, columns, call-to-action)
-
Click a section and click save section to insert it
-
Replace the placeholder text and images as needed
Tip: Use one section per content topic to keep the page clean and easy to scan.
Edit existing text
Click any text element on your page to edit it directly. You can:
-
Change font size and style
-
Make text bold or italic
-
Add links or bullet points
-
Change heading levels (H1, H2, H3)
-
Align and color text (depending on your design settings)
Try to keep your formatting consistent with the rest of your site.
Formatting tips for hotel websites
-
Use short paragraphs and clear headings
-
Add bullet points for practical info (like check-in times or facilities)
-
Use buttons or links for bookings, packages, or contact pages
-
Make sure text is easy to scan on mobile
-
Avoid long blocks of text without breaks
SEO tip: Use headings wisely
Search engines use headings to understand your content. Use headings with relevant keywords, such as:
-
Not ideal: “Welcome”
-
Better: “Welcome to Hotel Belle Vue in Paris”
Avoid using H1 headings more than once per page.
Reusing or copying text from another page
Want to copy text from another page?
-
Open the original page in a second tab
-
Select and copy the text
-
Go back to the new page and paste it into a new widget
-
Adjust formatting if needed
Tip: Use “Paste without formatting” to avoid strange styling
Working with multiple languages
If your website is available in more than one language:
-
Click the language switcher in the top menu
-
Navigate to the page in the other language
-
Click and edit each text element to translate manually
-
Review buttons, titles, and SEO fields separately in each language
