Add a New Room Rate and Assign It to a Room Type

1. How to Add a New Room Rate

To add a new room rate in SiteMinder, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Rooms & Rates, then click on the Rate Plans tab.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the New Rate Plan button.
  3. Enter the name of the new rate in the Name field.
    • Optional: If breakfast is included with this rate, check the box labeled Breakfast under the Inclusions section.
  4. Click Save. The new rate will now be listed under the Rate Plans tab.
  5. To assign the new rate to a room type, click the Assign Room Type button on the right-hand side.
  6. In the pop-up window:
    • Room Type: Select the desired room type from the dropdown.
    • Included Occupancy: Enter the number of guests applicable to this rate.
    • Rack Rate: Enter a default price (e.g., 500). This default price is required only to assign the rate; the actual rate will be set manually or by your PMS later.
  7. Click Save. The new rate will now be associated with the selected room and will appear in your inventory.

Optional: Repeat the steps above for any additional rooms you wish to assign to this new rate.


2. Changing or Deleting a Room Rate

Important: Deleting a rate in SiteMinder does not automatically remove the rate from connected channels or your property management system (PMS). These changes must be made manually.

To edit or delete a room rate, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Rooms & Rates. Under Room Types, search for the rate you wish to modify or delete.

  2. To change a rate:

    • Click on the name of the rate and select Configure.
    • Update the necessary information under General and/or Rate Config.
    • Click Save to apply the changes.
  3. To delete a rate:

    • Click on the name of the rate and select Delete.
    • A warning message will appear; confirm by clicking Delete to permanently remove the rate.

Note: If the rate you are changing is not derived from another rate plan, any changes will not affect dates that have already been set in the channel manager's inventory. Use the Bulk Update tool under Inventory to adjust existing rates.
