1. How to Add a New Room Rate

Important: Room rate settings must match with the connected channels and PMS, RMS or CRS. If they don't match it can result in discrapancies and overbookings.

To add a new room rate in SiteMinder, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Rooms and Rates in the menu
  2. Click on Rate plans in the lef menu
  3. In the upper-right corner, click on Add a rate plan
  4. In step 1 General Information, at Rate plan name enter the name of the rate you want to add and click on Next. * Rate plan description can be skipped.
  5. In step 2 Restrictions and Inclusions, you can enter optional some restrictions and inclusions. Click on Next to go to step 3.
  6. In step 3 Pricing details, setting a minimum rate is optional. At the how to manage there are 2 options: Manually input daily rates or Derive daily rates from an existing rate plan.

When you choose for Manually, the rates can be entered manually under Distributions > Inventory, when you are not connecting to a PMS, CRS or RMS. When you are connectin to a PMS, CRS or RMS, then also select Manually, then this system will send the rates and restrictions.

When you choose for Derive, then you can set a calculation (amount or percentage, increase or decrease). From the selected other rate, the calculation will be made for this new added rate. When the price of the selected rate is changed, it will automatically change it for the derived rate.

  7. Click Save. In step 4 Review and save check if all information is entered correctly, then click on Create rate plan to complete it.
  8. In the last step, you can click on the link Assign room types to directly assign 1 or more room types to this new rate. If you want to do this later, click on the Close button.
  9. When you click on Assign room types, in the next screen you can select the room types, where this new rate has to be assigned to.

In the column Full rate, you can entered a default price (example 500). Advise is to not enter the price of this rate for this room. The correct price can be entered manually on the Inventory grid or when the updates are send from your PMS. The entered value in this field is only for assigning the rate to the room type.

In the column Included occupancy, enter the number of persons which apply for this rate. For some connected channels, this is necessary to enter the included occupancy here.

The columns Extra adult rate and Extra child rate are optional to fill out.
Click on the Next button, check in the next step if all information is entered correct and finally click on Assign room types to complete assigning this rate.
  10. When, at point 8, you have clicked on the Close button, you will return to the rate plan overview. When you want to assign rate at a later stage, you can do it from the rate plan overview. Marked in yellow, you will see the message No rooms assigned. When you click on the yellow marked message, you can assign the rooms to this rate and follow the step from point 9.

    2. Changing or Deleting a Room Rate

Important: Deleting a rate in SiteMinder does not automatically remove the rate from connected channels or your property management system (PMS). These changes must be made manually.

To change or delete a room rate, follow these steps:

    1. Click on Rooms and Rates in the menu
    2. Click on Rate plans in the lef menu
    3. To change a rate:

      • Click on the 3 dots and select Edit
      • Change the necessary information and click Save to apply the changes
    4. To delete a rate:
      • Click on the 3 dots and select Delete
      • A warning message will appear. Confirm by clicking Delete to permanently remove the rate.

Note: Deleting a room rate cannot be undone. Deleting a room rate will also delete all associated mapped channel rates and stop inventory updates from being sent to the channels. However, it will not delete the room rates on your channels or in your PMS, RMS or CRS. You will need to manually remove any room rates via the channel or your connected system.
