Balance Transfers on a Settlement Report

The reason for a Balance Transfer is not always clear, when you see a Balance Transfer on your Settlement Report. This article covers the most common reasons.

When you see 'Balance Transfer' on a Settlement Report, this could have the following causes. 

  • Reserve
    This usually is what the balance transfer is for: to top up your reserve. The reserve is used for refunds and chargebacks. When you processed refunds during the month your balance needs to be topped up causing a balance transfer.

  • Premium Risk Invoice
    Every period, the invoice for Premium Risk is automatically deducted from your Adyen merchant account. Check the invoices your receive from the Smarthotel Finance Team if you received an invoice for Premium Risk.
  • Other invoices
    Some other invoices for payment costs might cause a Balance Transfer. Please check your most recent invoices from the Smarthotel Finance Team. E.g. this can be the monthly TAX invoice. 
  • Payout Account incorrect
    Sometimes changes to your payment account can cause settlements to be transferred to the next batch.
