Payment Lifecycle Statuses

1. Received

Meaning: The initial state for all transactions. It indicates that a validated payment attempt has been registered.

2. Authorized

Meaning: The payment is approved by the financial institution.

Action: You can now proceed with delivering goods or services.

POS Context: Reflects approval from the cash register and permission to hand over goods.

3. SentForSettle

Meaning: The request to transfer funds has been sent to the financial institution.

Important: Some payment methods require the payment to be captured first.

Impact: Once this status is reached, the transaction cannot be canceled — refunds are required instead.
4. SettleScheduled

Meaning: The net transaction amount is scheduled to be paid out, according to your Sales Day Payout schedule.

5. Settled

Meaning: The financial institution has transferred the funds to Adyen.

Refund-Related Statuses
6. SentForRefund

Warning: Refund requests cannot be reversed.
7. RefundScheduled

Meaning: The refund amount is scheduled to be debited on your behalf, according to your Sales Day Payout schedule.

8. Refunded

9. Refused

11. Expired

Meaning: The payment authorization remained open for more than 4 weeks without being captured or canceled.
